The Gawad Kalinga Community, a movement based in the Philippines, aims to eradicate poverty for five million families by fostering social entrepreneurship, supporting local farmers, and promoting economic development in rural areas. Poverty remains a pressing issue in the Philippines, with over a quarter of the population living below the poverty line, a figure that exceeds many other countries.
Gawad Kalinga invites individuals to become heroes by volunteering to support its communities. Spending time at the farm is both enjoyable and meaningful, involving tasks such as digging, planting, watering, and assisting with various farm needs. Visitors can also learn about the community's social enterprises and even experience being a social entrepreneur by participating in the production of farm-based products such as cheese, mushrooms, chocolate, plush toys, salted eggs, tea, and more.
