Founded in 1928, Beniya Mukayu is a family-run ryokan located on a hillside overlooking Yamashiro Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture, about an hour’s drive from Kanazawa. A member of Relais & Châteaux, it features 16 spacious rooms, each with its own private open-air hot spring bath and views of a landscaped Japanese garden. The ryokan blends traditional “omotenashi” hospitality with contemporary architecture inspired by Zen minimalism. Guests dine at Restaurant Horin, which serves seasonal Kaga-style kaiseki cuisine on locally crafted tableware. Facilities include the award-winning Entei Spa offering Yakushiyama treatments, a library, and tailored cultural experiences for longer stays. A complimentary shuttle connects to Kaga Onsen Station. Children under seven are not accommodated, ensuring a serene, adults-focused atmosphere of rest and rejuvenation.
