Tour Itinerary
Fly from the UK to the Azorean island of São Miguel. Upon arrival transfer to My Story Vila Nova hotrel and check in for seven nights. The remainder of the day is free to explore the city of Ponta Delgada.
Enjoy a free day to explore Ponta Delgada. Ponta Delgada has wonderfully preserved its historic beauty. Every turn of its cobbled streets brings in to view delightful buildings, cafes and shops, interspersed with some fascinating examples of brutalist architecture. Ponta Delgada is an extremely pleasant town to cover by foot. There are no big stores and virtually no international chains, so linger over an espresso in one of the many cafes around the Praça Gonçalo Velho Square and watch local life pass by. (B)
Join a full day excursion to Furnas. Travel along the south road and make a stop at Vila Franca, the island's historical capital, before continuing to the beautiful valley of Furnas. Here, visit the lake, hot springs and surrounding holes where meals are cooked by underground thermal vapours. After lunch, visit the botanical gardens for a swim in the natural hot water pool and then visit a tea plantation. (B,L)
Sail out on the open sea in search for sperm whales and dolphins. The sperm whale native to the Azores and often stays visible on the surface for a full eight minutes between dives, offering a great opportunity for everyone aboard to take some fantastic photos. (B)
Start the morning by exploring a pineapple plantation at Fajã de Baixo. Afterwards, continue on to the valley of Sete Cidades. One of the seven natural wonders of Portugal, Sete Cidades is an extinct volcano crater which showcases two magnificent green and blue lakes. After lunch visit Lagoa do Fogo– the dramatic fire lake and admire the fantastic view of the island at an altitude of 900 metres. (B,L)
