Fly from the UK to Gothenburg and take the airport bus into the bustling city centre to check-in for your three-nights. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore this exciting city.
Spend the day exploring Gothenburg by using your Go City pass. This includes both the hop-on-hop-off Gothenburg sightseeing bus and boat, so you can easily get your bearings and explore.We recommend a visit to the Gothenburg Museum of Arts - one of the finest in Sweden. Visit Gothenburg Museum to see the country's only exhibited Viking ship, Äskekärrsskeppet, and other fascinating exhibitions, as well as a visit to The World of Volvo Museum by journeying through history from 1927 until present day and learn all about Volvo's history and heritage. Why not give your taste buds a treat by sampling delicious ice creams and pastries at Kampanilen bakery on Karl Johansgatan. (B)
Gothenburg's archipelago is home to many stunning islands, each with its own charm. Why not visit Vrångö, which is among the most beautiful. Located in the southern part of the archipelago, this peaceful island offers breathtaking scenery, quaint seaside villages and inviting beaches. Collect your hire car and drive to Lidköping for a stay at the Naturum, Läckö Castle. Located on Kållandsö in Lidköping municipality in Västergötland. The castle is on a headland in the Ekens Archipelago in Lake Vänern and is a reminder of Sweden's time of great power. (B)
Today enjoy a tour of Läckö Castle and learn about its history, architecture and former inhabitants. Just outside the walls lies the formal castle garden, beautifully designed and maintained. In summer it bursts with colours and scents with a charming old-stone staircase that leads down towards the lake. In the afternoon, the vast lake and its archipelago of islands are perfect for paddling. Why not rent a canoe or kayak and explore calm bays or venture into more open waters. (B)
Why not rent some bikes from reception and enjoy a family cycle ride to Spiken fishing harbour. A perfect spot to buy an ice cream and look at the small shops there. Alternatively, for a relaxing water experience join a guided boat trip. A great way to see the archipelago scenery, reach remote islets, and observe wildlife. Or if swimming is more your vibe, head to the nearby small beach and relax on the grass with a picnic. (B)
