Arrive at Trondheim and take the train into the centre. Leave your luggage at the hotel before a guided tour of the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral and entrance to the Archbishop's Palace, where the Norwegian crown jewels are housed. Make sure you explore the Old Town Bridge, Bakklandet traditional quarters. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, choose to either visit the Sverresborg Museum ( Trondheim's open-air homestead museum ) or Rockheim, the popular music museum. In the afternoon you will have time to do some last minute shopping before boarding the train over the mountains and across the border to Sweden. On arrival at Storlien, make your way on foot to your hotel. (B,D)

Take in the pristine landscape which has been shaped by glaciers and wilderness Enjoy sweeping views of distant peaks. Rich in flora and fauna, it is home to reindeer, grouse and cloudberries. The crisp mountain air and peaceful atmosphere offer the perfect escape into the Scandinavian wilderness. Depending on the season you can choose to hike by foot, with skis, bike or with snowshoes. After breakfast, take the train to Undersaker where you will be transferred to your hotel.Collect a packed lunch and set off to experience a pilgrim walk to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sweden. The route you take is an old Viking pathway as you follow in the footsteps of Viking Olav. (B,L,D)
Today, take the bus directly to Åre. This is one of the oldest regions in Sweden. Why not start with a ride up Åreskutan, via the cable car, or the historic Bergbana funicular for sweeping mountain views. After you have chosen your spot for lunch, we recommend a visit to the 12th Century Åre Church. Stroll through the local shops or take some Fika at a local café before heading back on the bus. (B,D)
You will be driven to the rail station to take the train to Östersund. Upon arrival, there is a short walk to the hotel where you can leave your luggage. Depending on the weather, you can choose to take the bus or walk to Jamtli. It is a beautiful stroll along the waterfront. Here you can enjoy the museum, showcasing Jämtland's history, art and folklore. In Östersund, why not take lunch at a cosy café before crossing to Frösön island to explore the Frösö Church. In the afternoon, relax by the lake or browse the local shops and sample regional delicacies like reindeer or cloudberries. (B)
Time permitting, enjoy the spa at the hotel before taking the bus to the airport for your flight back to the UK. (B)
