Ittoqqortoormiit, previously known as Scoresbysund, is one of the youngest towns in Greenland and together with Qaanaaq, the most isolated. One of the highlights of this remote location is Scoresby Sound, which with its ancillary fjords is the largest fjord complex in the world and also the world's longest fjord. Only a few brave tourists come to this isolated area, where the winters are long and the sea is frozen for nine months of the year, but the locals are friendly enough when they are not out subsistent hunting for seals, walruses and polar bears.
