The area around Jabal Akhdar, also known as the Green Mountain, on the high Saiq Plateau, is famous for its cultivation of damask roses and rose water. Local villagers may offer a delicious rose syrup drink for you to try. At an altitude of 2000m the air is cooler and fresher giving you a welcoming break for the heat in the lower valleys. There are plenty of wadis and terraces to explore in the area.
