The modern city of Al ‘Ula sits next to the heritage mud-brick city which is currently under renovation. The main draw for Al ‘Ula is the UNESCO site of Hegra, the Nabatean’s second city and the collection of rock cut tombs scattered through the desert. There are over 140 tombs in total and are spread through a large area. Heading out in to the desert in 4x4s will show tourists some spectacular rock formations amongst the sand and ancient rock art.
