Bauska is a town in the Zemgale region of southern Latvia, some 66km from Riga and only 20km from the Lithuanian border. Visitors to Bauska are drawn primarily for its iconic castle but it is an ideal base from which to visit Rundale Palace and one of Regent’s favourite museum in Latvia – Miķelis Vintage Car and Machinery Museum. Bauska Castle is situated on a picturesque spit of land where the Mūsa and Mēmele rivers converge into the Lielupe. There are 2 parts to castle – the ruins of the 15th century Livonian Order Castle and the 16th century residence of the Dukes of Courland.
