The sleepy seaside town of Kep is a popular weekend destination for Phnom Penh residents and is becoming increasing well known for its excellent seafood. With its faded French grandeur and pretty beaches Kep suffered greatly under the hands of the Khmer Rouge and was largely forgotten for many years but is now regaining popularity as an alternative to the slightly busier neighbouring beaches of Sihanoukville. Head to the crab market to enjoy a host of fabulously fresh seafood, maybe washed down with a local beer or two, while watching the sun set over the ocean.
