Kratie, situated along the Mekong River near the Laos border, offers a glimpse into Cambodia's colonial past and serves as a prime spot to observe the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins. The town, though worn, retains its charm with atmospheric French colonial buildings lining the riverfront. A short ferry ride away lies Koh Trong, a rural paradise where locals travel by horse-drawn carts and visitors can explore stilt houses, sandy river beaches, and lush mango tree-lined paths. Kratie's fame, however, lies in its opportunity to spot the rare Irrawaddy dolphins, traditionally believed to possess human-like qualities. With only around 90 remaining worldwide, Kratie stands as one of the few places where tourists can witness these captivating creatures in their natural habitat.
