Start in Bishkek, where leafy boulevards and bold Soviet mosaics frame your first taste of Kyrgyz life, before escaping to alpine trails in Ala-Archa National Park. Travel from yurt to yurt via scenic mountain passes, waking by Son-Kul Lake and dining under starry skies. In the Issyk-Kul region, learn to craft wool felt and build yurts by hand, watch eagle hunters in action, and sample Dungan cuisine in a family home.
Explore the surreal formations of Skazka Canyon, soak in natural hot springs in the Altyn-Arashan Valley, and wander through Karakol’s colourful animal market. Then, take your seat for the unmissable World Nomad Games – a high-octane festival of traditional sports, horseback skill and celebration on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. Fly to Bishkek.

Arrive in Bishkek and transfer to your hotel for immediate check-in and time to freshen up. This afternoon, explore the capital’s Soviet architecture, leafy parks and colourful bazaars. Highlights include the Philharmonic Hall, Ala-Too Square, Oak Park and the State Historical Museum. Visit the Museum of Fine Arts, the Frunze Museum and Victory Square, before browsing ZUM’s lively halls. This evening, enjoy a traditional dinner in a yurt at Supara Ethno Restaurant. (B/D)

Start with a refreshing visit to Ala-Archa National Park, a short drive from Bishkek.
