The canyon and the town of Demir Kapija is located in southern Macedonia and renowned for its vineyards. In Turkish Demir Kapija is translated as Iron Gates referring to the limestone gorge with its tall white cliffs. Demir Kapija is great location for hiking and gathering wild herbs and flowers, but we think the highlight of a trip here is the wine and a visit to Popova Kula Winery. The interesting Museum of Wine in Demir Kapija was opened in 2010 and is worth a visit.
