Haa is the smallest district in Bhutan and is a largely isolated and unexplored part of the country so a visit here feels very special. The region is home to a small number of nomadic herders and the Haa summer festival showcases their lifestyle as well as other aspects of Bhutanese arts and culture.
Access to the Haa Valley over the high altitude Cheli La offers wonderful views of the forested landscape below. The mountain biking and trekking opportunities in the region are some of the best in the country, head north for views of Mount Jomolhari on clear days. The area is also home to Bhutan’s national flower, the blue poppy which can often be seen on hikes during the flowering period June to July.
