Arrive at Keflavik International airport. Pick up your car and drive to the Golden Circle area in South-West Iceland. You could choose to start your trip with a visit to the Blue Lagoon (pre-booking essential) before heading to your hotel in Iceland's iconic Golden Circle area. Check in for 2 nights.
Spend the day exploring the South Coast where you can visit the spectacular waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss (which it is possible to walk behind) and Skogafoss (which you can walk to the top of) as well as visiting the black-sand beaches of Reynisfjara and the impressive bird cliffs of Dyrholaey before returning to your hotel for the night. Today you can explore the Golden Circle area. Visit the Pingvellir national park, Geysir geothermal area where Stokkur erupts every 10 minutes and the three-tiered Gulfoss waterfall. You can arrange a snowmobile safari across the Langjokull glacier before continuing on to the Borgarfjordur area. Check in to your hotel for 2 nights. (B)
Spend the day in the Borgarjfordur area where you can visit the Deildarunguhver hot spring, the medieval site at Reykholt and the Hraunfossar waterfall. Or you could drive around the coast of the Snaefellsness peninsula, visiting the shark museum at Bjarhofn where they produce the traditional delicacy of hakarl, the fishing village of Stykissholmur or walk between the villages of Arnastapi and Hellnar. From Borgardjordur head to Reykjavik where you can visit the varied museums, cafe and restaurants before continuing on to the Reykjanes peninsula and perhaps stopping at the Krysuvik hot spring area, Gunnuhver hot spring, Brimketill rock pool and Reykjanesta bird cliff before checking in for your final night near Keflavik airport.
