Chernobyl is a photographer’s playground in all seasons, whether covered by snow during winter months, bursting with new life in spring, verdant and green in the summer months or golden with russet hues during autumn.
One of the iconic shots of Chernobyl is that of the amusement park laying abandoned in the town of Pripyat, Ukraine. It was supposed to have its grand opening on the 1st May 1986, in time for the big May Day celebrations. Tragically these plans were cancelled a few days prior, as on the 26th April of the same year, the Chernobyl disaster occurred.
